Sandra Parker grew up in Eastern Arkansas and had professional careers in both
anthropology and engineering which brought her to Northwest Arkansas. Perhaps
anthropology, which allowed a view of human adornment from around the world since
prehistoric days, sparked her interest in jewelry.

She began making jewelry with beads of natural stones, metals and fabricated
materials about 15 years ago and has done some work with silver. She has taken
classes from Olivia Sordo, Janet Pace, Michelle Paine, and others.
In the past, Sandra sold jewelry at selected clothing boutiques in Fayetteville, Eureka
Springs, and Jonesboro. When the pace of work at her job increased, however, she
found it necessary to set her jewelry making aside for awhile - but it was never out of
mind. On retiring last summer, she dove into jewelry making with every spare
moment.

Sandra is a member of the Village Art Club, and she will have jewelry in the spring
show of the Sara Howell Gallery in Jonesboro by invitation. She enjoys combining
colors and textures with diverse materials to create one-of-a kind wearable art. She
gets a thrill from seeing someone wearing a piece of jewelry that she has made.
