Strong light filled paintings which emphasize striking contrast and glowing color
characterize works by July Mayser. The timeless subjects express a personal
response to her surrounding. Subtle rich textures and warm inviting hues illuminate the
peaceful scenes. Some works have a Southwest flavor: Sections of vivid color are
reminiscent of Gaugin. Others depict subjects close to her… a kitten, flowers, local
country roads and streams. These personal scenes add interest and variety to her
work. The paintings exemplify good composition and are beautifully presented.

Mayser’s early training began at the School of the Arts institute in Chicago. “I was
influenced early on by their wonderful Impressionist collection”, she states. She
continued studies at CASC (Poteau, OK) and NEOSU (Tahlequah, OK) and has studied
in Europe and with leading artist-teachers in the United State. She holds signature
membership in the Ozark Pastel Society and Artists of NWA, and is an Associate
member of the Pastel Society of America.
