Harold Stoner

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Harold Stoner was born and educated in Nebraska. He holds a degree in Metal
Technology and worked in this field for many years. He is an accomplished tool
and die maker and designer, tool engineer, and quality metal engineer.

At an early age he enjoyed working with wood and this became a very special
hobby for him along with photography. Harold believes that wood in all its forms,
old, ugly, new sleek have the potential to become works
of art. Wood is beauty.

In the 1970's Harold began his own business of building quality custom homes
as well as commercial buildings in the Denver area. In the late 1990's he and his
wife, Jennifer, retired to Rogers, Arkansas to a home Harold built on Beaver
Lake. Harold continues in his wood turning and metal work in his studio-shop
when he is not fishing on the lake. He regularly attends the various woodturners'
symposiums that are held in the United States each year and has studied the art
of woodturning with very qualified artists such as Binh Pho, Nick Cook,
Trent Bosh and Alan Lancer to name a few.

In addition to traditional types of furniture such as desks, coffee tables and
bookcases, Harold has built Cherokee and Japanese drums. His many wood
turning items have won ribbons and awards. Often his wood turnings can be
seen on display at various places in Rogers, Arkansas. These turnings are also
for sale. Harold has participated in woodturning events in which young children
are taught how to turn and he considers this to be one of the most gratifying
benefits in his woodturning endeavors. He has turned many pieces of wood into
bowls, covered boxes, vases, wine stoppers, Christmas ornaments and many
other objects. Harold was the award wood turner of the year by the Stateline
Woodturners Association.
