Mutual fascination with light drew this sister and brother to their respective art: Helen to photography and Hank to stained glass.
Helen has been exhibiting her art for fifteen years. She says that, “Photography is an affair with light from bright to heavy shadows. You see everything as a potential print. Capturing the subject matter is often times difficult, but that is part of the journey. I embrace digital format but still use film and enjoy beading and hand coloring some black and white, fiber-based prints. As long as I keep my eyes wide open, the options are limitless.”
Hank says, “I have always had an appreciation for stained glass and an eye for color, so I established Heirloom Stained Glass Studio in 1987. The distinction of my work is a combination of being able to choose just the right colors and glasses for each project and the fact that I, personally, construct every project from conception to completion. Great satisfaction is taken in creating heirloom pieces that are like a welcoming friend when one returns home.”
