Fans of David’s art have classified it as Primitive, Folk, Outsider, and Americana.
While is has certain characteristics that fit each of these genres, it transcends
categories. The artist himself calls it “Second Chance Art.” David believes art is all
about second chances. Art gives both the artist and the viewer the opportunity to
re-visit scenes and to re-live special moments any time they choose.

Second Chance is an apt description for David, the man himself. Polio struck David
as a child and he lost the use of him limbs. A devoted family exercised his arms
and legs relentlessly until he regained their use.

David has led a successful, if unusual life. A high school dropout, he graduated
from ASU with honors and awards for Poetry and Philosophy in tow. After a
successful career in manufacturing and construction David was struck with Post
Polio Syndrome, an extremely painful and debilitating chronic disease. He was
given another second change to learn to walk, this time with a cane. Thanks to the
strong support of his forced to retire with his disability.

David always appreciated the artistic skills of others, but had never had an art
lesson himself. So, he bought a book and decided to teach himself to draw… the
rest is in the artwork
