David R. Katz

I moved to Arkansas from Denver, Colorado in 1971 and worked in the medical field for the next 7 years, was a partner in a stained glass business, and became acquainted with the art network around the state.  In 1981 I entered the "Toys Designed By Artists" competition at the Arkansas Arts Center where my metal and glass "Flying Spider Box" earned Honorable Mention and sold before the show even opened.  I became a serious photographer while photographing my wife's basket work for her web site. I am affiliated with a local video production company in Fayetteville where I do commercial photography and graphics work. I have been a web designer for the past 5 years and have worked in computer technology for the past 20 years. I have a small business, InfoStatz Creative Services, which provides web site, photography and graphics services.  I am a musician and played live music for quite a few years. In 1985 I won first place in the Arkansas Songwriter's Association's songwriting competition for my song "Easy and Slow".  I now work solo and create instrumental compositions exclusively on my computer.  I grew up with classical and rock music, and that's what my music is: instrumental popular/neo classical rock. I am a current member of the Eureka Springs Artists Registry.

My current photographic focus, The Midnight Series, began one night while riding back from a video shoot in Knoxville, TN. I was a passenger in one of the vans and started playing with time exposures of the highway traffic. I developed a method for manipulating the camera while exposing it to random configurations of traffic lights and found that there were "creatures" that lived in the exposures.

My website is www.DavidRKatz.com where you can view several slideshows of some of my photography and listen to my current album, "Darvonium Soliloquy". You are cordially invited to visit.
