Jim Young - Vanhollow Pottery

Jim is an award-winning potter and a member of the Arkansas Craft Guild.  His work is influenced by travels in Europe, Latin America and Asia as well as his beloved Ozark mountains.  His personal pleasure is sharing the beauty of the Ozarks through pottery whose flowing shapes and earth tones are enhanced by glazes that frequently contain native materials.

Jim holds a Masters Degree in Art Therapy and has been a potter for 38 years.  His high fire stoneware is designed for everyday use in ovens, microwaves and dishwashers.  All pieces are one-of-a-kind.   Glazes are formulated by Jim and are safe for all uses.  Properly cared for, this is lifetime pottery.

Jim believes there is an artist in everyone, and he delights in helping new artists realize their creative potential.  Jim Young has taught pottery for over 30 years, sharing his love and respect for handmade pottery with hundreds of people.  Classes are limited to 5 or 6 people from beginners through experienced potters.  All methods of pottery making are taught:  wheel, slab, coil, and pinch pots.  Classes are taught once a week and run in 6-week cycles, 3 hours per class.  All tools, materials and instruction are provided.  Check Jim's website for times, dates and studio directions.  Classes are also available at the Adult Wellness Center in Rogers.
